Strawberry Season

Just have to tell you'll the strawberry bed built last year is a success!

Before

After

getting a gallon of berries every day

Jars of Jam
taste so strawberry

Gotta go pick some more. The strawberries are getting ripe and red and sweeter as I write this.
Gonna make a strawberry pie for Donald, as he's been out in the corn field for days and
a fresh strawberry pie will taste delicious!

PS:  Store bought strawberries have among the highest levels of pesticide residue found in fruit.
Please buy local and support your local farmers, or buy organic.

  1. So what kind of soil did you put in your raised bed for strawberries? How did you keep the chipmunks and other critters from chomping on your red berries? I just had to get a trap for the chipmunks eating my Iris rhizomes; destroying iris after iris. Can't they find something else to eat>

  2. Hello, DJD
I went down to the river and loaded my pickup with river dirt,
then got a load of sand and mixed the two together in the bed.
As for the critters, the cats keep the chipmunks away.
Do you want some berries? The bounty is overflowing.
